Uses And Benefits of Lemon Essential Oil

 

Lemon essential oil is a popular oil, which is used in many DIY recipes. The oil is extracted from fruit peel and is very rich in vitamins A, B and C.  Lemon is best known for it’s ability to cleanse toxins from any part of the body and is widely used to stimulate lymph drainage, to rejuvenate energy, purify skin and act as a bug repellent.

Having a strong anti-septic action, lemon essential oil can be used in household cleaning products as well as skincare and other personal hygiene products. It has been shown to kill harmful bacteria that are on surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom and throughout the home.  It is often used in laundry products, air fresheners, deodorizers, and even can be used as an insect repellent.

This light, citrus oil is predominantly used in skincare products.  You will commonly find it in perfumes, body fragrances, shampoos, hair products, soaps, cosmetics, creams, massage oils and bath oils. Lemon us used in skin creams to fade freckles, sun spots, and spots that form due to aging.  It is also used for oral hygiene as it works well to whiten teeth and kill bacterial in the mouth.

Lemon essential oil is indicated as a lymphatic decongestant and is useful for cellulite, obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol.  It is potentially useful for removing urinary stones and gall stones.  It has been widely used for relieving headaches, nausea, and insomnia.  Lemon oil improves circulation and tones the blood vessels which helps tremendously with varicose veins, hemorrhoids and nosebleeds.
